So, yesterday a group of Sligo based artists were guided through a selection of archived materials at the Sligo Local Studies and Archive building. We were delighted as the knowledgable Archivist Corinne Herward introduced maps, workhouse records and a few pieces from a postcard collection featuring local views and landmarks. (I found the maps and typography very inspiring among many things!) This is a treasure for inspiration and anyone looking to research the local area. Thanks to Sligo County Library and the archive staff for making the archives accessible to artists. We can now use this knowledge and material as we work with local primary schools and in our art practices!
